Solidus to showcase fibre-based packaging solutions at Seafood Expo North America and CFIA Rennes

Solidus will be present at two exhibitions in March where they’ll be showcasing several packaging solutions.

At both exhibitions Solidus will present its innovative Futurline range. The retail ready packaging solutions within this range, Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP), skin packaging and punnets, are made out of fibre-based materials which are recyclable at end-of-life, use over 90% of recycled material and significantly reduce the carbon footprint versus plastic based packaging.

Seafood Expo Boston

Solidus will be presenting their innovative fish and seafood packaging solutions at North America’s largest seafood event, Seafood Expo North America, from March 10th to March 12th in Boston (USA). You can visit Solidus at stand 372.

One of the fish packaging solutions Solidus will showcase at this exhibition is skin packaging. This type of packaging features deep vacuum technology which supports the shelf life of produce. Although skin packing is not new, Solidus’ Futurline skin packaging system uses a printed solid board base with a transparent skin film to package fish, seafood, meat and poultry and providing maximum product visibility.

Besides the new Futurline skin packaging solution, Solidus will also present its solid board transport packaging during Seafood Expo North America. Solidus’ solid board is the ideal material to package fresh fish, round fish and salmon. It is an environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative to the usual polystyrene and plastic crates. Approximately 90% of the fibres Solidus procures, are recovered paper from mainly municipalities, retail customers and recovered paper plants. Moreover, the fibre-based packaging material can be recycled at least 25 times without losing its mechanical or structural integrity.

Next to the sustainable benefits, Solidus’ solid board packaging can be transported flat and in higher capacity per pallet to the end users, reducing the number of transports required for delivery. Solidus’ custom size shipping boxes can hold more fish and more boxes can be stacked on the same pallet, so more fish can be transported in the same space.

CFIA Rennes

At CFIA Rennes, taking place from March 12th until March 14, Solidus will be presenting their packaging solutions for the Food industry, on stand 9-A33.

Solidus will present the three food packaging solutions within the Futurline range at CFIA Rennes: skin packaging, Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) and punnets.

Solidus’ Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) solution offers a solid board alternative to wholesalers and retailers to replace plastic trays. MAP is a long established method to extend the shelf life of fresh food like fresh or processed meat, fish, fruit or salads. The technology substitutes the air inside a package with a protective gas mix.

Cardboard punnets offer a fully recyclable solution for the packaging of fruits and vegetables, such as mushrooms and soft fruit. The punnets are moisture resistant and offer optimal protection for your products throughout the whole supply chain, which makes it perfect for soft fruit packaging. Next to that, our high quality printing options will ensure that your brand stands out at point of sale.

As well as on the Seafood Expo North America exhibition, during CFIA Rennes Solidus also highlights their transport packaging solutions, such as bases and lids and trays that can be used for a wide range of food products.

At both tradeshows, customers can learn more about Solidus’s circular strategy which transforms recycled fibre-based products into packaging and other solid board applications such as point-of-sale displays, sustainable transportation solutions and luxury packaging.

We look forward to meeting you at one of the exhibitions.
