Role Description

The production planner will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient planning of all production assets at the production site they are assigned as well as covering other production assets when required.  

The role requires focus on using the company ERP / MRP system to anticipate and understand the requirements of our customers, ensuring these are translated into production plans to ensure finished goods are available in the timescales required. 

Proactively identifying and maximising efficiencies in the production plan to ensure stock levels of both raw materials and finished goods are controlled to optimal levels.

The production planner must work cohesively with all teams across the business to play their vital part in ensuring we supply our customers on time in full with high quality goods, maintaining stocks as agreed where SLA’s are in place.

What are you going to do

  • Effectively and efficiently planning the production assets.
  • Forecasting and ordering raw materials to meet production and ultimately shipping requirements, whilst ensuring optimum stock levels are maintained.
  • Managing the workflow for each operation with flexibility to accommodate unforeseen situations.
  • Management of finished goods stock, ensuring optimal stock levels and prevention of slow moving stock.
  • Arranging the daily delivery materials schedule with the appropriate vendors.
  • Working with procurement to ensure all non-conformance events from vendors are managed as per the correct procedure in a timely manner with replacement materials and production planning changes managed as required.
  • Assisting the wider team where required with stock taking and other related procedures.
  • Analysing plant capacity data in order to produce a logical and effective production plan.
  • Attending and chairing planning meetings where required

Person Specification

  • Effective time management, prioritising and multi-tasking skills.
  • MS office skills in Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Able to think logically and methodically.
  • A natural problem solver, able to find solutions outside of the status quo.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Flexible approach managing work within specific deadlines.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel UK wide as required with occasional travel to our sister site in Corby with overnight stays where required.
  • Desirable Requirements
  • Experience of working in a BRC approved facility. 
  • Experience of working in the packaging industry.
