Solidus turns green ambitions into actions and supports Trees for All and War Child

With the holiday season approaching, Solidus extends warm wishes for the end of the year. As in previous years, we choose to demonstrate our commitment to a better world by supporting charitable causes. This year, we are delighted to dedicate our efforts to two initiatives that reflect our dedication to circularity, sustainability, and social responsibility.

Trees for All

At Solidus, it is a core value within our corporate culture to aspire towards a caring influence on the world. As an international company, we bear the responsibility to address some of the most pressing sustainability challenges. Through our support of Trees for All, we take action in a domain that aligns closely with our identity as a circular packaging company: the reduction and prevention of deforestation worldwide.

As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, we are pleased to announce our third consecutive year of planting trees in collaboration with Trees for All. This year, we are supporting a project in Overijssel (Netherlands), near our Solidus location in Coevorden, where we will plant 2,000 trees in January 2024. These trees contribute to a better climate, increased biodiversity, and an improved standard of living for local communities.

Update on Trees for All Donation Projects 2021 & 2022

In addition to the new donation project, we would also like to provide insight into the various projects we supported in 2021 and 2022.

In 2021, a total of 4,000 trees were planted across two projects in Vietnam and Drenthe (Netherlands). In Drenthe, Trees for All planted over 63,000 trees in total. Solidus made a significant contribution of 1,500 trees to this initiative. The aim of this project was to create new forests adjacent to existing plantations or as connections between existing wooded areas. Additionally, in 2021, we also supported the restoration of the coastal zone in Central Vietnam. This project contributes to the restoration of dune forests, with the trees providing natural coastal protection.

In 2022, we chose to plant 4,000 trees in the Netherlands and Portugal. Once again, we selected a project in Drenthe, this time in Dalerpeel. In Dalerpeel, Trees for All planted 11,733 trees and shrubs in total. This equates to 2.6 hectares of new forest, roughly equivalent to almost 4 soccer fields. In Portugal, trees were planted in the Faia Brava Reserve, covering an area of 1,000 hectares with unique flora and fauna. The region is home to various endangered species such as the vulture and the Iberian wolf. By planting trees, we are also restoring their habitat.

War Child

However, our commitment does not end here. This year, we have decided to also support War Child with a donation. This organisation focuses on children affected by war. By contributing to this valuable cause, we aim to make a positive impact on the lives of children affected by war, offering them hope and paving the way for a better future.

For this donation as well, we have received a certificate.
