Solidus rationalises its cost base to strengthen its competitive position

Groningen, 6 June 2025 – Solidus (the “Company”), a leading specialist in solid board and solid board packaging, announces the next step to strengthen the company’s competitive position. Following the financial restructuring earlier this year, Solidus will rationalise its cost base to restore the company’s performance and position itself to drive further growth.

The entire industry is experiencing a challenging period, and Solidus is no exception.

Slow demand and rising input costs, such as gas, energy and CO₂ emissions are putting pressure on the company’s financial results.

At the beginning of this year, Solidus announced the launch of a strategic review of its operating footprint. As a result of this review, Solidus will close its production location in Bad Nieuweschans (NL) and align its overhead functions. Production volumes will be transferred to other production locations within the Solidus Group to improve production efficiency and capacity utilisation.

With a more focused strategy, a rationalized cost base and new capital, Solidus is well positioned to capitalize on its strong standing as a specialized market leader in both domestic and international market segments.

We will work proactively with our customers and suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain and a smooth transfer of production.

Management has engaged in constructive dialogue with the Works Council and labour unions on a social plan to support our employees.
