Warehouse Manager/Despatcher

Are you an experienced Warehouse supervisor looking for the next step into management?                                     

To plan and expedite lean efficient and effective control of the warehouse and dispatch operations within a shift environment in line with ‘goods in and out’ targets inside corporate guidelines.

What are you going to do

  • Team Management
  • Line manage direct reports on a day to day basis to meet the department KPI’s whilst coaching and nurturing through effective leadership
  • Ensure Holiday/Sickness and Absences are covered and Return To Work/Disciplinary actions completed and added to personnel records
  • Conduct weekly 1:1 session with each warehouse team member and performance management reviews  annually
  • Implement and record all training as per department needs
  • BRC Responsibility for the Warehouse
  • All BRC elements in conjunction with Production Manager
  • Yearly LOLER Inspections & Monthly Racking Inspections – co-ordinated and supported by Production Manager
  • Forklift Trucks
  • Ensure Daily ‘Truck Check Sheets’ are completed by each member of Warehouse Team
  • Instigate and monitor Maintenance, servicing and repairs on all trucks
  • Good In and Goods Out
  • Manage all current goods in and out procedures and processes to meet warehouse KPIs
  • Take corrective action to ensure that KPIs such as product damages and pick errors are kept within agreed boundaries working towards ‘zero tolerance’
  • Work in partnership with the Production Planner and Sales Team to align and maintain the inbound and outbound delivery schedules
  • Ensure maximisation of warehouse  footprint and stock quantity at pick face with optimum product location
  • Work closely with management colleagues to ensure data capture and investigate to drive efficiencies across the warehouse and business promoting a culture of continuous improvement
  • Transport
  • Responsible for all pre-approved Haulier companies
  • Managing their service levels to Solidus
  • Implementing all requirements and daily/weekly despatches including Dewsbury, Birmingham, Lancashire and Groupage by working with sales on van lists
  • Cross checking invoices against the transport spreadsheet, querying anomalies and resolving/completing Purchase Order paperwork
  • Dealing with but not excluded to:-
  • Pallets damaged on delivery, not strapped/fallen over
  • Managing trailers with Hauliers
  • Working with the sales and or planning department to resolve:-
  • Customers chasing delivery and wanting an ETA
  • Customer returns and processes
  • ½ day wagon running late and becoming full day wagon
  • Drivers being at customer for more than ten minutes and not unloaded
  • Drivers running out of time to get last deliveries done/running late
  • Driver cannot locate a customer
  • Driver waiting at a customer for an hour before informing anyone that they are there
  • General & Recycling
  • Adherence to Health & Safety Act 1974 and all NPB requirements
  • Ad-hoc related tasks required in relation to work area
  • Ordering and disposal of Gas Bottles/Waste Skips and Waste Pallets

  • Despatch management in a fast paced industry

  • Able to work unsupervised and prioritise, distribute and monitor workload
  • Passionate about delivering exemplary customer service
  • Forklift Truck Operators as Direct Reports
  • Production Manager as Line Manager
  • All Key Stakeholders in the business including Production and Sales
  • External Logistics/Hauliers
  • Level of Decision Making:
  • Make recommendations for the improvement of processes and procedures around the business as a whole
  • Make recommendations for and on approval implement improvements in areas of responsibility
  • Make recommendations for staff/team development and training
